No matter the type of schedule you have or the type of television show you are intersected in, using a DVR could work for you. Anyone, from sports fanatics to a devoted soap opera watcher, and even the occasional TV watcher can benefit from recording their favorite shows while away. As soon as you find out there is an upcoming show you want to watch, but will not be around to watch while it’s on, you can set your DVR to the time and channel to record it for you. You can even set it to record the entire series, so that you will not have to program it every time there is a new episode. If you cannot get to the show in a timely manner to watch it, the show will be deleted after a certain amount of time, or if the DVR gets too full. In this case, you can set the options to erase according to the time you set.

Benefits of DVR

When it comes time to sit down and catch up on all your latest TV shows, you will have them all lined up and ready to go, on your DVR. Simply select the show you want to watch and use the remote to play, pause, fast forward and rewind throughout the show. If you decide to watch a different show half way between one showing, you can always resume it later. This is an additional benefit to having a DVR. You will no longer have to worry about missing your favorite shows or go through all the trouble of setting up a VCR to record your favorite shows on tape. Using a VCR is an affordable way to record all your favorite TV shows, if this is what you prefer. But it can be a lot of work and you cannot scroll through your shows, selecting which one you want to watch on the VCR with ease. Unlike a VCR, a DVR will allow you record up to two shows at a time as well.

There is something for everyone on television these days. Finding something to watch is made easy. With all the new types of guides we literally have gotten rid of the need to go and rent movies. From the comfort of you’re own home you can rent all the new releases by just using your remote. Make sure when choosing you’re package you choose the right on for you. Don’t pay money for channels you know you will never watch.

Every day I feel like there is an advertisement for a new show. Television programming has made some dramatic changes in the types of shows that are now being offered to viewers.

Having worked in retail I can tell you finding the right television can be difficult. Nowadays there are so many choices you can make. Whether it be LCD or Plasma making a decision can be difficult. Make sure when it comes time to choose, you do the necessary research before making a purchase. Always make sure to purchase a warranty. Many of the new televisions that are being produced tend to have some internal issues. Bigger is better! You can’t tell me that having a bigger television is something you have never thought about. Look around, there are always specials and promotions being offered. Do some homework on the computer. You can find out the cheapest price with just a clock of the mouse.

Sitting down in front of the TV is a completely different experience from when I was a kid. With all the choices one can be overwhelmed. From music, sports, and movies there is definitely something for everyone. Always remember that many programs can be inappropriate. If you have children make sure to monitor what they are watching or create a password so they can’t watch certain things.

1) The Office- Steve Carrel is a comedic genius who commands over the offices of a paper supply company in the Northeast. Shot as a pseudo- documentary, characters comment on their lives and each other.

2) Family Guy- This cartoon is one of the dirtiest humored shows on TV. Rift with references to pop culture, be sure to pay attention to the fast paced dialogue.

3) 30 Rock- Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin co-star in a sitcom that comments on what its like to work at a weekly variety show. The shows antics and drama have one continuous awards since its first season.

4) How I Met Your Mother- Barry Stinson keeps viewers laughing as the show follows his antics in and out of the office. One of the most popular sitcoms in America and abroad.

5) Scrubs- Now a classic and after many seasons, this sitcom has established itself as a long running look at the inner working of a hospital staff.

6) Modern Family- One of the newest sitcoms on the block, this show provides endless fun with modern pop culture references in the daily lives of a modern American family.

7) The Simpson’s- For almost 20 years, the Simpson family has provided laughs to all generations every Sunday night. Watch Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge and Maggie as they live out adventures in Springfield.

Curb Your Enthusiasm- HB) and Larry David teamed up to provide a comedic and scripted look at his life as the ex-Seinfeld actor in Los Angeles. The show relies on improv and has won multiple Emmy awards since it first began.

9) Arrested Development- The extravagant and excessive lives of the Bluth family are recorded in a documentary style format.

10) Futurama- After a hiatus, the cartoon set in the future is back on air. After several seasons, the show picks up where it left off and is sure to keep modern references coming as it fits into the lives of characters from the future.

All of these shows differ greatly but, they are sure to provide you with that laugh that you are looking for to brighten your day.

- Satellite TV requires a satellite dish.

Essentially subscribers must have an unobstructed view that faces south. This enables the satellite dish to receive signals (programming) from satellites in orbit. An obstructed view can mean no signal reaches the dish. Satellite TV providers are usually willing to install and set up the subscriber’s dish as a part of their subscription bundle or package.

- Most homes/apartments are cable-ready.

Because cable has been available for so long, most residences are cable-ready, especially in cities and suburbs. Most places will have a jack (a specialized plug-in) in the wall used to attach a coaxial cable from the wall to the television. Once service is established with the cable company, cable is ready to watch. Installation is generally not as much of an issue as with a dish.

On the negative side, however, service may take several days to establish.

- Satellite TV offers more choices and higher quality viewing.

Satellite gives the subscriber a wide variety of programming choices, usually packaged in bundles of differing prices, tailored to meet the needs of the consumer. Channels are available from across the globe.

Additionally, the picture tends to be of a higher quality with satellite service than with cable. The same goes for audio.

- Cable can easily be used with multiple televisions.

Using satellite TV, multiple televisions require the subscribers to have multiple receivers. Since the user will need a separate receiver for each set, they will spend more money to have the service in more rooms, such as they living room and the bedroom. Typically, cable jacks are available in more than one room already. A nominal fee may apply for multiple televisions, but it will generally be cheaper than multiple satellite receivers.

- Both satellite and cable are affected by the weather.

Bad weather can cause either system to fail; however, a satellite can be permanently damaged by heavy winds, hail, debris, or lightning. With proper surge protection, cable is more resist to lasting damage and more easily restored.

- Cost

The cost of services varies considerably depending on choices of services and bundles; however, the initial cost of the satellite dish and receiver(s) can definitely outweigh the initial fees associated with cable. The monthly cost of cable can differ significantly between cable providers. Right now, only two major satellite TV services exist, so competition is fierce between them, keeping costs lower for the consumer, who should shop around for the best price, regardless of whether they choose cable or satellite services.

Equipment
Unlike other television services, Satellite Television only needs three pieces of equipment to work properly. First, there is the dish itself, which can vary in size from the dishes that take up half of one’s backyard to a dish that is mounted on the side of a house. Then, there is the receiver, which is connected to both the dish and the television set. Last is the remote control which changes the channels and volume settings. It can also help you order special events like the ones mentioned above when they are wanted.

How It Works
Like many electronic things, the way that the satellite signal works is unseen. It is sent from a satellite in space to the dish that is connected to the television. The receiver box unscrambles the signal and displays it on the television screen. This is very much like the old antenna “rabbit ears” that used to be on the tops of houses.

Technical Difficulties
In its infancy, Satellite television could be hooked up to every television within a home, but the people inside were forced to watch the same station on different televisions. That has changed today, lucky for many families with small children who love to watch cartoons. Now, the channels can be displayed on any television at any time for any four different channels on the other televisions. That is a great relief to parents who would like to watch the news as opposed to their child’s cartoon.

Signals and Features
Because technology is always evolving, the fact that satellite television runs from a digital signal is greatly helpful when one is watching their favorite show. The picture is much clearer and there is rarely a blurred shot, unless it is intentional within the filming process. Additional safety features, like parent control helps keep the curious children away from channels that they should not be exposed to.
